FACES OF ACT

We believe in Cambodians leading positive change in Cambodia. Our commitment to gender, ethnic and religious equality in our projects is also demonstrated in the make-up of our organisation.

Ngann Thanak – Executive Director nganthanak@online.com.kh
Thanak has been with ACT since 2004. As well as his responsibilities as Executive Director, he also coordinates the MACT project. “At ACT, we like to be able to share programmes that help people build skills to put into practice in their own organisations”



Tum Bunthan – Adviser

Bunthan has been working in the NGO community in Cambodia since 1993. For over 7 years, she has worked particularly in the areas of non-violent action, leadership and management, conflict resolution and training for peace trainers. Much of Bunthan’s experience of conflict has been at a grass-roots level working with communities to develop a sense of empowerment through compassion and understanding through active non-violence.



Sophie Meredith – Fundraising Adviser m.sophie@online.com.kh
Sophie works to help sustain our programmes through fundraising and development work. “It is great to be able to support such an active organisation to help Cambodian people create a lasting, meaningful peace themselves”




Saman Chanmolinda – Accountant ayaeno_okik@yahoo.com
Chanmolinda has joined us recently and is enjoying offering her skills to contribute to the accountability and organisation of ACT. She previously worked with UNDP. “I enjoy my work as it helps me to have a good relationship with staff from different enthnic backgrounds and faiths”.






Meas Sokeo – IEPB Project Officer msokeo@online.com.kh
Sokeo has been with us since 2003 and has developed the Inter-ethnic Peacebuilding project. “I enjoy my work as it gives me an opportunity to make a real effort and contribution towards peacebuilding, justice and good relations between people from different ethnic backgrounds and faiths”



Seang Samnang – IIPC Project Officer s.samnang@online.com.kh
Samnang joined ACT in 2006 after working with The Working Group for Weapons Reduction (WGWR). He has developed practical application of his research through the Interfaith Initiative in Cambodia. “I want to live in a peaceful country and feel I can contribute my knowledge and experience for a peaceful Cambodian Society”

Mom Kunthav – IPPC Project Assistant kunthav@online.com.kh
Working on the IIPC project, Kunthav researches the factors that allow for peaceful co-existence between different faith communities and believes that this is an important way to solve one of the causes of conflict in Cambodia.




Dith Sothearo – IIPC Project Assistant sothearo@online.com.kh
Sothearo prepares the IIPC workshops such as the interfaith dialogue workshop. “I want my country to be peaceful, not in conflict. I want to disseminate my knowledge, skills and experience at a grass-roots level, in communities with interfaith/religious conflict”



Chea Sok Im IEPB Project Assistant

In her work, Sok Im aims to help other Cambodians transform ethnic conflict through training, education programmes, research and cultural exchange provided by IEPB





Chhay Srey Pheak – IEPB Project Assistant pheak@actcambodia.org
Pheak joined ACT in 2007 after working with a youth volunteer club “I found many problems related to ethnic conflict that cause domestic violence in communities, so I enjoy working to help them live in peace and happiness even its not directly to them but I can be a part of society development toward peace in the future’’

Thornin has been with ACT since 2007 “ACT is like a candle that can help show me the way I really wanted to go. I’m really proud of myself that I have a chance to work with the MACT project that is working directly with the people involved in peacebuilding and conflict reconciliation by helping, sharing experiences and communicating with the people, and feel surprised to be able to contribute what I have learnt and what I can do for them”
