 Cambodia is a developing country and getting successful in all sectors. Peace is also a main point that we need to reinforce because it cannot develop without peace and cannot have peace without development. Even Cambodia is going better in all sectors, it still meet a lot of problems especially, Domestic Violence is hot issue, Forest destroy, poverty, Religious discrimination, political discrimination, and Land Conflict. Some of conflict let us improvement, but the conflict that we talked above they will bring us to meet predicament to the people in Cambodia, and they will keep deeper if we dont care and fine a solution and will let our children that they are the main and key people for our county will be living in a country which has violence and discrimination. According to these reason that allowed The Alliance for Conflict Transformation (ACT) decided to have a project call Multiple Approaches to Conflict Transformation (MACT) to providing the training to Monks, Commune Councils, Governments, Teachers, Policemen, NGOs staff in Kampong Chhnang province that all of them are key people in conflict resolution and to spread knowledge direct to community to bring them a part of conflict resolution and develop Cambodia.
This first workshop has done on 16-20 February, 2009 on Understanding and Analyzing at Asia Hotel in Kampong Chhnang Province, and has 36 participants that all of them are 4 Monks, 21 Council Communes, 4 Governments, 6 Policemen, and 5 NGOs staffs. Total have 7 women that came from Sangkat Kampong Chhnang, Sangkat Phsar Chhnang, Svay Chroom Commune, Chrey Back Commune, Tang Krorsang Commune, and Akpiwat Commune in Kampong Chhnang Province.
Project Objectives
- To identify the concepts and attitudes towards conflict in communities
- To show the basics of conflict and its effect on the development of communities
- To use tools creatively, to analyze the conflict and to create solutions
- To encourage good communication and cooperation in order to solve problems in the community and reflect and change people's attitudes in order to solve the problem
Conclusion
The 5-day training of first workshop on Understanding and Analyzing was finish smoothly with successfully. The reason that let the workshop got successful because the participants was participated as sharing and practicing from what facilitators asked to do. Case study that the facilitator chose, it was right to their situation that happen in their community every day so they have a chance to use and share in real experiences. And the participants have an opportunity to understand about the conflict understanding and analysis, the conflict resolution from traditional conflict (out of court), and especially focus on the tools to analyze in conflict resolution at their community. Based on previous workshops, we noticed that participants believed that this training was good and they hoped that the second module would be successful.
