OUR ACADEMY MODEL

ACT is a systemic approach to addressing the challenges young people face as they confront the demands of high school and prepare for post-secondary education and the world of work.  

 

Our Career Academy distinguishing features:

  • Small learning communities to create more supportive, personalized learning with hands-on technical enriching programs  

  • Establish partnerships with distinguished employers to provide career awareness and work-based learning opportunities

  • Combining of general and technical skills curricula around a career theme to enrich teaching and learning

  • Strong foreign language program so students are able to be bilingual communicators

  • As the grade advances, the skills become more specific towards a chosen career pathway

  • Project-based learning classrooms with a Senior Capstone Project for Grade 12 students as a requirement to graduate

  • Soft skills development classes to ensure that the students are prepared in a holistic matter

  • Internship placement before going to the National Technical Exam so students can secure job placement after school

  • Provide international study opportunities

  • Establish career guidance or career pathway exploration classes for students to able to identify their strength and talents as well as prepare them to transition for work

  • Provide innovative subjects that is currently is unavailable in Cambodia and also a need for the future

  • Provide technology classes that give Cambodian students a competitive edge in the 21st century

 

Our education system enables students to excel in the 21-century workplace. ACT also provides short term programs for students that completed grade 12 or are already working.

Curriculum Framework

ACT is continuing to build a curriculum that blends general Khmer education with technical skills.  Alongside the Khmer general education curriculum we are utilizing an MRA-TP curriculum provided by the Ministry of Tourism.  For future courses we are using international standard curriculum used in high schools and technical universities from around the world.

At ACT we believe in “Learn by Doing”.  Our classes will be heavily emphasize on project, case studies and role-playing modules. The system of assessment will be divide in such way:

  • 40% of the class will be taught using theory,

  • 40% Practice and Demonstration,

  • 20% will be attitude and moral based.  

We believe this type of program will produce a more holistic student.  

ACT is continuing to build a curriculum that blends:

    • American Hotel and Lodging Educational Insitute’s (AHLEI) Secondary Grades Curriculum, the Hotel and Management Program (HTMP)
